With three stabbing attacks in less than one week already, terror attacks on Israeli security personnel escalated on Wednesday when an explosive device was thrown at an Israeli soldier not far from Jerusalem. According to IDF Spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner’s Twitter feed, the soldier suffered moderate wounds, while the IDF Spokesperson’s Twitter reported that Israeli security was “searching the area” for who was behind the attack.
This comes amidst a violent week for Israeli security forces. The IDF Spokesperson tweeted that at one point—starting last Saturday—there were three Palestinian knife attacks in three days. Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon was quoted in a press release as saying on Tuesday, “In Judea and Samaria [West Bank] as well, as you have seen, it is not quiet. There are attempted knife attacks on an almost daily basis.”
Ya’alon praised the military and police for “responding quickly and professionally against all those who try to raise a hand or a knife against IDF soldiers or civilians.”
He then offered a warning to those interested in future acts of terror: “We will continue to not allow any terrorist element to attack our soldiers and civilians. Moreover, we will continue to take various steps against terrorism. This week I approved the demolition of more terrorists’ homes, terrorists who already committed their crimes, as part of our deterrent moves to prevent terrorism.”
