Two Palestinian stabbing attacks in two different locations made Saturday a dangerous day for Israeli security forces. Initial reports said the first incident occurred when a 19-year-old Palestinian asked Israeli soldiers for water, and then stabbed one of them, according to IDF Spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner’s Twitter feed. Lerner said IDF forces responded by shooting and wounding the Palestinian attacker, while the IDF soldier was lightly injured. According to the IDF Spokesperson’s Twitter feed, the attack took place along a highway not far from Jerusalem. The Palestinian was arrested.

Later that same day, a Border Police officer was stabbed in a different location, this time south of Nablus.

According to the IDF Twitter feed, the soldier received medical treatment, while Lerner confirmed via his Twitter that the Israelis defended themselves by shooting the assailant.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu alluded to the two attacks by praising the Israeli security forces during Sunday’s cabinet meeting in comments released by his office. “I would like to commend IDF and Border Police soldiers for their determined action over the weekend in which they neutralized several terrorist actions,” said Netanyahu. “Our policy is zero tolerance for terrorism. Whoever tries to hurt us—we will hurt them.”
