For the second time in less than a month, a member of the Palestinian security services has been arrested by Israel for illegal weapons dealing. And this time, the perpetrator was a “major weapons dealer” in the Palestinian-dominated city of Nablus. The IDF Spokesperson’s Twitter feed said that in just one security operation in Nablus this week a total of six weapons manufacturing machines were seized—after just one had been seized in Nablus for the entire year of 2016.

That wasn’t the only danger apprehended this week. IDF Spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner tweeted on his feed on Monday the identity of the arrested criminal—who turned out to be a member of the Palestinian authorities. “Overnight #IDF arrested Mahayub Knaza, member of Palestinian security services that doubled as a major weapons dealer in #Nablus,” tweeted Lerner.

In July, a pair of Palestinian security force members were arrested for trafficking weapons. Israeli Prime Minister’s Office spokesman Ofir Gendelman tweeted about that arrest that the gun traffickers “sold guns to terrorists.”
