Ever wish there was a formula for making the world a safer place? Well, here’s one that will at least keep it from becoming more dangerous. Israeli Prime Minister laid out on Tuesday four steps to prevent Iran from gaining nuclear weapons. Iran must:
1. Stop enriching uranium as nuclear fuel
2. Remove the enriched uranium from its territory
3. Shut down its once-secret, underground nuclear fuel facility in Qom
4. Halt it’s secondary nuclear program, which uses plutonium.
It won’t be easy, but Netanyahu believes its necessary. Me too.
Iran is quite good at hiding things, at faking cooperation and double-crossing people. They’ve been negotiating with the West in bad faith over their nuclear program for years.
That’s why Netanyahu said of what Iran must do, “Only a combination of these four steps will constitute an actual stopping of the nuclear program, and until all four of these measures are achieved, the pressure on Iran must be increased and not relaxed, and certainly not eased.”
Iran, which sponsors global terrorism and spews anti-West hate, would be even more terrifying if they acquire nuclear weapons. So success in stopping their program is very important to your security.
Hinting at the Syrian situation, Netanyahu said a “credible military threat” is necessary for diplomacy with a rogue state to work. Ditto for Iran.
And if the US and Europe won’t threaten to stop Iran from gaining nuclear weapons, Netanyahu warned that Israel can and will defend itself.
“Israel must continue to build up its strength so that it will always be able and ready to defend itself by itself against any threat,” the press release quoted Netanyahu as saying. “I reiterate something that is familiar to you: If I am not for myself, who will be for me?”
